Bowling Polling Election Results

The election buzz is definitely in the air at Burlington Bowl as the provincial election nears.

Local candidates Jane McKenna (PC Party), Peggy Russell (New Democratic Party) and Karmel Sakran (Liberal Party) accepted the bowling centre’s invitation to appear and campaign.

A Bowling Polling event has added a fun twist to bowling and the upcoming election. An election lane features the campaign signs of each candidate with a booth and ballot box nearby. The voters roll one ball on the election lane. Along with the single-roll bowling scores, the voters strike a mark for the party of their choice on the anonymous ballots.

This unique Bowling Polling event was created by Burlington Bowl to:

  • facilitate face-to-face discourse between the public and candidates about policies and platforms that affect our lives;
  • add fun and interest to the election campaign; and
  • encourage constituents to vote in the October 6, 2011 election (especially since the voter turnout in the last provincial election was the worst ever with just over 52%).

“Bowling is one of the most popular participation sports in Ontario,” said Filippo Corradi, President of Bowl Ontario and General Manager of Burlington Bowl Inc. “The buzz that started in Burlington has now spread across Ontario. The residents of London and Stoney Creek are also meeting their candidates at the local bowling centres.”
